New Year, New Me!
I've been writing in my journal with fresh fervor in the week leading up to New Year's Eve for as long as I can remember.
I make a list of the highlights and challenges of the previous year, as well as my new year's objectives, hopes, and plans. I make vision boards out of cut-out magazine clippings and Pinterest photos to find my ideal look for the coming year.
However, I've found that giving too much weight to New Year's resolutions always makes me feel deflated, even if these practices made me feel prepared for the upcoming challenges and excited for new opportunities.
The repeated comparisons and public exchange of resolutions make the new year feel like a competition rather than a thrilling, new beginning.
